Our services
Estate Tax, Equitable Distribution, and Probate
During probate of an estate, a judge or CPA may need to verify that personal property values meet IRS guidelines or calculating estate taxes. Considering a gift to children, grandchildren, or other family members? An appraisal will provide a valuation of items for equitable distribution.
Insurance Coverage and Claims
Special investments in art, antiques, jewelry or collections may need additional insurance coverage. An appraisal will itemize personal property for obtaining insurance. If loss or damage has occurred, we can provide valuation for filing an insurance claim.
Charitable Donations
The IRS has specific regulations about making donation to non-profits, educational institutions, human service programs etc. We can assist with determining values and, if needed, providing IRS Tax form 8283 for tax purposes. For more information, contact your CPA or visit www.IRS.gov publication 561.
Downsizing/Disposition
When you move, you may decide you no longer want or need certain items in your new home. Whimsey has extensive experience and knowledge about selling art, antiques, collectibles, and a wide variety of personal property. We provide consultation and referrals about all methods of disposition.
Estate Planning/Wealth Management
Regardless of income, you've accumulated personal property and may continue to do so, even unintentionally. How will the executor of your estate know what your wishes are for example Grandfathers watch or other special items or collections. A written appraisal provides appropriate information to assist in itemizing personal property for will and trust planning.
Verbal Opinions of Value
Consists of on-site examination of items and information on the range of values based on the appraiser's experience and knowledge. We also provide consultations and referral regarding all methods of disposition. No research is possible for this type of appraisal.
